FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas coach Lance Harter has won the 2019 Peter Tegen Award as the most outstanding women’s college cross country coach.
Harter led the Razorbacks to the NCAA championship on Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind. Arkansas scored 96 points to edge second-place BYU (102).
The title was the Razorbacks’ first in cross country and capped a three-season sweep in running sports. Arkansas won the NCAA team titles in indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field earlier this year.
The Peter Tegen Award was established in 2006 and named for the former head coach at Stanford who was five-time national cross country coach of the year.
