Kam Shanks, a receiver who signed to play football at Arkansas on Tuesday, was named a first-team All-America punt return specialist by The Sporting News.
Shanks, 5-8 and 180 pounds, led the nation in punt return yards (329), punt return average (20.6 yards) and punt return touchdowns (2) at Alabama-Birmingham this season.
He is a finalist for the Jet Award, which honors the most outstanding return specialist in college football.
Shanks set the single-game program record with 139 punt return yards during a 59-21 win over Tulsa on Nov. 2. He returned a punt for a touchdown during that game, as well as during the Blazers' season-opening 41-3 victory over Alcorn State.
