FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona issued a public apology Sunday, one day after a viral video clip appeared to show him intentionally step on a Texas Tech player near the end of the Razorbacks’ 39-26 victory at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
Two video angles were posted to social media by Texas Tech defensive back C.J. Baskerville. In them, the 6-5, 322-pound Carmona can be seen walking toward a pile of players and stepping on Baskerville’s left ankle before helping running back Braylen Russell to his feet with 2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
“There’s no denying that Arkansas played a great game last night, I am not taking that away from there,” Baskerville wrote.
