Arkansas basketball withstands furious Mississippi State rally, wins thriller to help NCAA Tournament odds

FAYETTEVILLE — After appearing dead in the water to start SEC play, the Arkansas basketball team will likely be putting on dancing shoes in March.

Arkansas held off a furious Mississippi State rally to win its regular-season finale 93-92 on Saturday at Bud Walton Arena, putting the Razorbacks in good shape for an NCAA Tournament at-large berth.

After a go-ahead free throw by Arkansas forward Jonas Aidoo with 11 seconds remaining, Mississippi State had a chance for a walk-off victory. But a blocked shot by Billy Richmond and missed open, second-chance look for RJ Melendez at the buzzer was off the mark.
