NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Arkansas basketball team survived and advanced Wednesday at the SEC Tournament.
Eleven days after an embarrassing loss at South Carolina, the Razorbacks nearly blew a 20-point lead against the Gamecocks but held on for a 72-68 first-round victory at Bridgestone Arena.
Arkansas (20-12) will play Ole Miss in the second round Thursday at noon.
After leading 54-34 early in the second half, Arkansas saw its lead dwindle to 61-60 with 3:55 remaining.
South Carolina (12-20) went on a 19-2 run over an 11-minute, 40-second stretch as the Razorbacks missed 12 consecutive shot attempts.
