The Arkansas men’s basketball team is off to its worst conference start in 39 years.
An 83-65 loss at Missouri on Saturday was the Razorbacks’ fifth in a row since SEC play began Jan. 4 — a stunning free fall for a team coached by Hall of Fame coach John Calipari and that spent most of the first half of the season ranked in the national polls.
Arkansas (11-7, 0-5 SEC) last lost its first five conference games in 1985-86, when Nolan Richardson’s first Razorback team began 0-5 in the Southwest Conference.
The Razorbacks and South Carolina are the last winless teams remaining in SEC play.
