The eighth-ranked Baylor basketball team never trailed and the Bears defeated 16th-ranked Arkansas 72-67 on Saturday at American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Freshman V.J. Edgecombe made a pair of free throws in a 1-and-1 situation with 14 seconds remaining to clinch the win for Baylor. The Bears won their first game of the season following a 101-63 loss at sixth-ranked Gonzaga on Monday.
Playing three days following a 76-60 season-opening victory over Lipscomb, Arkansas (1-1) lost for the first time under first-year coach John Calipari.
The Razorbacks pulled within 70-67 on Boogie Fland’s three-pointer with 24 seconds remaining.
