Arkansas baseball homers 5 times, hammers Portland in series opener

FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas baseball team has not had to play a regulation game this week.

The third-ranked Razorbacks won another 7-inning run rule by a score of 20-3 over Portland on Friday to take the weekend series opener at Baum-Walker Stadium. The teams are scheduled to play again Saturday at 2 p.m.

Arkansas (13-1) won its ninth consecutive game and improved to 11-0 at home. The blowout victory over the Pilots (5-9) followed 7-inning wins by scores of 14-1 and 15-3 over Louisiana-Monroe in the midweek.

The Razorbacks have outscored their opponents 120-36 at home and Friday’s victory was their sixth by run rule.
