A 12-game win streak for the third-ranked Arkansas baseball team came to an end Friday with an uncharacteristic showing from pitcher Zach Root and the defense behind him.
Root allowed 7 runs in his SEC debut on 10 hits in 3-plus innings, and the Razorbacks lost 10-6 at No. 15 Ole Miss in the SEC opener for both teams.
The Rebels (15-2, 1-0 SEC) improved to 13-0 at home. Arkansas (16-2, 0-1) lost in its first true road game.
The second game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Swayze Field in Oxford, Miss.
