Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018, and its biggest celebration will be for Saturday night’s matchup between Arkansas and Ole Miss.
The Razorbacks’ home-away-from-home stadium has been the setting for some classic matchups since the first game there in 1948, a 40-6 victory over Abilene Christian.
Prior to the game, former Razorback football player Maurice “Footsie” Britt, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient whose right arm was amputated because of wounds suffered in combat during World War II, led a pregame ceremony that dedicated the stadium to the honor of Arkansans who died in battle during the World Wars.
