FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) Arkansas coach Bret Bielema insists he prefers a balanced offensive approach, not the power-running game usually featured by his teams.

The No. 18 Razorbacks (1-0) showed off their passing potential in a season-opening win over UTEP.

Arkansas has gained more yards on the ground than through the air in each of its first two seasons under Bielema, averaging 218 on the ground and 188 passing last season.

But Brandon Allen threw for a career-high 308 yards and four touchdowns in the opening win - a sign the Razorbacks finally have a full complement of playmakers to help bolster the passing game.
