FAYETTEVILLE — A missed free throw by Arkansas freshman forward Karter Knox turned out to be a pivotal play in the No. 20 Razorbacks’ 79-67 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday night at Walton Arena.
Arkansas forward Adou Thiero, a 6-8 junior, scored a basket off the miss that completed the most unconventional of three-point plays.
After Knox hit the front end of the 1-and-1 free throw opportunity but missed the second, Thiero cut into the lane and scored on a tip in that extended Arkansas’ lead to 61-51 with 9:59 remaining.
It was some welcome breathing room for the Razorbacks when the Trojans had pulled within 58-51 after trailing 39-17 in the first half.
