Arkansas fans who expected a 2017 class that would shake up the balance of power in the SEC West will be disappointed. For the most part, though, Arkansas appeared to turn out OK – not terrific – in this recruiting cycle.
The class is uneven, with areas of clear strength (receiver, offensive tackle) and glaring weakness (defensive line). Arkansas held on to several of its top in-state prospects, such as safety Montaric Smith, athlete Jarrod Barnes and wide receiver Koilan Jackson.
Coach Bret Bielema looked to the junior college ranks (two wide receivers, one tight end) in a bid to add depth to the Razorbacks’ passing game.
