LITTLE ROCK – Taking on the best under-20 cross country runners in Europe, Trojan freshman Noora Wallenius placed 20th at the European Cross Country Championships in Hyeres, France, early Sunday morning.
In a field of 85 total athletics, Wallenius moved up throughout the race on the 4.1 kilometer course. At the first checkpoint at 1.095 kilometers, she was in 43rd place. At 2.4 kilometers, she had moved up to 29th. And at the final checkpoint at 3.9 kilometers, she was all the way up to 22nd. She moved up two more spots in the final 200 meters, completing the course with a time of 13:58.
