UALR shakes sluggish opening

Coming off a one-point home loss to Lindenwood on Thursday night, Arkansas-Little Rock came out of the gates sluggish in its matchup with Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon in Little Rock.

In their final home game of the season, the Trojans faced a large first-half deficit but quickly rallied behind several big scoring runs to come away with a critical 75-61 victory over the Leathernecks in front of an announced crowd of 2,047 at the Jack Stephens Center.

Coach Darrell Walker took his 100th victory during in his tenure at UALR. Jordan Jefferson scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half, while Tuongthach Gatkek provided a much-needed spark for the Trojans late in the first half and finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
