DENVER — The UALR men’s basketball team ran out of steam against the most balanced team it's played all season.
Behind All-American forward Georges Niang and three-point shooting of just about everyone else, fourth-seeded Iowa State created space with a run to end the first half, then held off a threat of a UALR rally for a 78-61 victory at the Pepsi Center. The Cyclones advance to the Midwest Regional semifinal next week.
Niang scored 28 points to become Iowa State’s all-time leading scorer. He made 11 of 18 shots from the floor and 3 of 5 three-pointers for the Cyclones, who shot 56.
