UALR (30-5) not dwelling on finale

DENVER -- Chris Beard emerged from a somber yet composed UALR men's basketball locker room Saturday night and was immediately greeted by Chancellor Joel Anderson and Athletic Director Chasse Conque.

"Great season wasn't it?" Beard said as he hugged Anderson. "My goal is to coach a team where we win our last game. We came close this year. Just five off."

It was, however, as close as any Trojans' team has ever come, dating back to UALR's 1986 NCAA Tournament victory and subsequent second-round loss to North Carolina State.

Saturday night's 78-61 loss to Iowa State ended a season during which UALR set program marks for victories and won the Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament titles for the first time.
