So much for slow starts.
The UALR men's basketball team shook off a recent trend of scuffling from the tip to jump on Texas-Arlington, then needed just about all of its lead to hang on to first place in the Sun Belt standings with a 68-62 victory Saturday night at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
UALR handed Texas-Arlington its first loss in nine home games this season and won for the ninth time on an opponent's home floor after jumping to a 42-14 halftime lead, a stretch in which it shot 53.6 percent from the floor and made eight three-pointers.
