LITTLE ROCK – After one of the greatest days in Little Rock sprinting history, Trojan senior Michael McGruder was named the Sun Belt Male Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
McGruder ran the 100-meter dash in 10.17 seconds, the current fifth-fastest time in the nation to win the event at the Little Rock Open. McGruder's time is now the second-best in Little Rock history.
He followed that performance with a new school record in the 200, racing across the finish line in 20.61 seconds to win that race as well. With that time, McGruder topped the 12-year-old record of Chris Johnson by a narrow .
