Matthew Fox Sets Canadian, School Heptathlon Record

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Sometimes you just need a little parental encouragement. With his parents down from Toronto to watch him compete, Little Rock sophomore Matthew Fox set a new school and Canadian U20 record in the heptathlon as he scored 5,047 points on the final day of the Boo Rogers Combined Events.

Setting personal best marks in all seven events, Fox moved up two spots to finish seventh in the competition as he became the first Trojan to ever pass the 5,000-point mark in the heptathlon. That mark is also a national U20 record for the native Canuck, surpassing the 4,898 points Denver Krupity scored in Edmonton on Feb.
