Day after big win, UALR turns focus to Iowa State

DENVER — UALR Coach Chris Beard gave his players two hours to enjoy what could be considered the biggest victory in program history.

A day after the 12th-seeded Trojans knocked off fifth-seeded Purdue with an improbable comeback in the final four minutes to force overtime, and an eventual 85-83 victory in double overtime, they were back at the Pepsi Center on Friday. This time, UALR (30-4) was a popular spot for the media assembled.

Beard, who became the ninth coach to win 30 games in his first season as a Division I coach, said Friday he quickly turned the page to Saturday's opponent — No.
