Compton Claims 500th Win in Sweep of Jackson State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – In the second match of her 30th season, Little Rock volleyball head coach Van Compton earned her 500th career victory as the Trojans defeated Jackson State 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 15-13) on Friday night at Reed Green Coliseum on the campus of Southern Miss.

Compton becomes the 32nd active head coach in Division I with 500 wins.

Daisha Gillard led the Trojans (1-1) with eight kills on 11 attempts. She hit .545 for the match while adding four block assists. Veronica Marin was in beast mode as the junior tallied a career-high eight blocks (three solo and five assisted), seven kills and a match-high .
