The UALR men’s basketball team hasn’t clinched its first outright regular-season Sun Belt Conference title.
But the Trojans on Saturday set a school record for regular-season victories and assured themselves of the shortest possible path to advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
Josh Hagins scored 16 points and UALR held Georgia Southern well below its normal three-point production in a 75-61 victory Saturday night at Hanner Fieldhouse in Statesboro, Ga.
UALR (24-3, 14-2 Sun Belt) clinched one of the top two seeds in next month’s Sun Belt Tournament in New Orleans, meaning the Trojans won’t play until Saturday’s semifinals and will need two victories to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
