The Arizona women’s basketball team beat the Washington Huskies 72-70 in a close, and heated matchup on Sunday, Feb. 4 in McKale Center.
Both teams are in a similar position in the Pac-12 conference standings; Washington only has one conference win, and Arizona, before Sunday, only had one win as well.
Some history resides between both programs that caused some emotions to flare on and off the court. Head coach Adia Barnes and her assistant Morgan Valley both came from Washington, and helped lead them to a Final Four in 2016. All Pac-12 freshman Aarion McDonald, who transferred to Arizona from Washington last year, was also considered one of their three best players in her time with the Huskies.
