White Sox pick Arizona pitcher Avery Weems in 6th round of 2019 MLB Draft

A fourth Arizona baseball player has been selected in the 2019 MLB Draft, this one a bit of a surprise considering his up-and-down performance in the spring and his college status.

Left-handed pitcher Avery Weems was taken by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round on Tuesday, marking the second player with ties to the Wildcats to get selected by the ChiSox. Incoming freshman pitcher Andrew Dalquist went to Chicago in the third round earlier Tuesday.

Weems was 4-5 with a 7.18 ERA for Arizona in 2019, his senior year, making eight starts and 27 appearances with 47 strikeouts in 61.
