NEW YORK — Carlos Villarreal has plenty of good memories to take back to Rio Rico from his first visit to New York City this weekend, but his performance in the Dream Mile of the Adidas Grand Prix won’t likely be on top of the list.
Villarreal finished 10th out of 14 runners in 4 minutes 14.92 seconds, nearly 15 seconds behind Grant Fisher, a Stanford signee from Grand Blanc, Michigan, who won the event for the second year in a row.
“I didn’t run well at all,” Villarreal said. “Right from the gun, we went off at a slow pace, but, I don’t know why, my legs just didn’t feel right for some reason.
