OAKLAND, Calif. – On the eve of perhaps Arizona’s most anticipated road game of the Pac-12 season, Wildcat planets were in alignment like never before.
Consider all this:
- Before they reached an ESPN showdown at California on Saturday evening, the Wildcats beat Stanford 71-57 on Thursday in front of former coach Lute Olson, former assistant coach Matt Brase, former center Joseph Blair and ex-forward Solomon Hill.
- While Olson is retired, the other guys were in town to go to work on Friday, the day in between UA’s two Bay area games. They were a few of the total nine ex-Wildcats involved with some sort of professional basketball action in the Bay area on Friday: Brase and Blair are on the Houston Rockets’ D-League coaching staff, in for a game Friday against the Santa Cruz Warriors, while the parent Warriors were hosting a Wildcat-pooloza with Indiana that involved seven former UA players in a game at Oracle Arena.
