Even with the opposing team using a backup quarterback, Arizona was unable to pull off a second-half comeback against No. 23 Utah and fell 30-24 Friday night in the Pac-12 opener at Arizona Stadium.
UA quarterback Brandon Dawkins finished completing 19 of 36 passes for 180 yards and threw two interceptions. Dawkins entered Friday's game without an interception all season.
His second interception came in the third quarter and was returned for a 14-yard score.
The defense provided the offense with opportunities late in the game, forcing Utah to punt on several occasions, but Dawkins was unable to convert it into points.
