The legendary San Diego Padres closer was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday after receiving 79.9% of the vote. 75% is required for enshrinement.
Hoffman will be one of four members of the 2018 HOF Class. He’ll be joined by Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, and Jim Thome. Jack Morris and Alan Trammel were also elected by the Modern Baseball Era Committee last month.
An 11th round draft pick in the 1989 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds, Hoffman made his MLB debut on April 6, 1993 as a member of the Florida Marlins after being selected in the expansion draft.
