The Arizona women’s basketball team won its game versus Colorado on Sunday afternoon, but did suffer a loss in a different way.
Freshman point guard Taryn Griffey has taken a leave of absence for personal reasons and will be away from the team indefinitely.
“She’s just taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, and she’s obviously still a part of our basketball team, and we look forward to having her back,” Arizona head coach Niya Butts said.
Griffey, one of the highest-ranked recruits Arizona has brought in Butts’ tenure, has started in 14 games this season and is averaging 9.
