Arizona softball junior Ivy Davis has entered the transfer portal, sources confirmed Friday. The news was first reported by Justin’s World of Softball.
Davis was a swiss-army knife for the Wildcats over the past three seasons, starting at seven different positions—first base, second base, third base, shortstop, left field, right field and designated player.
In 2020, she finally found a permanent home at first base, starting in 21 of 25 games. She also hit a career-high .305 with three homers, three doubles, three stolen bases and 13 RBI.
The Wildcats are set to add power-hitting first baseman Carlie Scupin from Tucson High for the 2021 season, so Davis would have had a fierce battle for playing time moving forward, though her versatility would have made her a valuable asset even if that meant another position change.
