The Cleveland Indians have not been to a World Series since 1997, and have not won one since 1948. Terry Francona, the only guy to win a Golden Spikes Award at Arizona, has now managed this team to the World Series thanks to a 3-0 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Another Arizona guy, Brad Mills, is Francona’s bench coach. This is like the MLB version of the Warriors, so latch on to the bandwagon while you can. The World Series begins Tuesday in Cleveland. Francona has already won the World Series twice with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and 2007
- Francona is not perfect though, having lost a tooth veneer in a wad of chewing tobacco, handed that tooth to a team trainer, then found a dentist in Toronto to get it fixed the next day
- The Cleveland manager also called his third baseman’s hair “atrocious”, which is fair.
