STOCKTON — The San Jose SaberCats capped off an improbable 17-1 regular season record by defeated their biggest rivals, the Arizona Rattlers, in Saturday evenings National Conference championship game. With the 70-67 victory coming in the most dramatic of finishes, San Jose advanced to the franchise’s fifth Arena Bowl.
As usual between these two teams, the game was a showcase of arena football’s fast-pace offense. The two teams would go back and fourth, exchanging the lead on virtually every possession. Both teams scored on their first six drives.
