Arizona infielder Cameron Cannon was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft on Monday.
As the 43rd overall selection, Cannon is eligible to receive a bonus of up to $1.73 million if he chooses to sign, per MLB.com. He has one year of eligibility left if he opts to return to Arizona.
Cannon hit .397 as a junior, tops on the Wildcats, with eight home runs and 56 RBI, splitting time between second base and shortstop. In three seasons he hit .347 with 16 homers and 113 RBI, starting 139 of 147 games.
