Bobby Hurley didn’t hold back, but the Pac-12 did.
The ASU men’s basketball coach was formally reprimanded by the Pac-12 Conference on Friday for comments about the officiating in Arizona’s 84-82 win over the Sun Devils in Tempe the night before.
The league stopped short of fining Hurley, limiting its punishment to a boilerplate statement poo-pooing his criticism.
“The Pac-12 membership has established standards of conduct, one of which prohibits coaches from making public derogatory comments regarding officiating,” outgoing commissioner Larry Scott said in a news release. “It is the Conference’s responsibility to ensure compliance of these standards on behalf of its members, and there is a protocol which allows for coaches to provide feedback directly to the coordinator of officiating.
