LOS ANGELES — Oregon coach Willie Taggart entered his press conference at Hollywood and Highland on Thursday morning, and the room went eerily silent.
With a smile, Taggart declared: “I was expecting a round of applause!”
Could you imagine Chip Kelly asking for applause? Mark Helfrich?
The last two Ducks coaches were famously quiet. Taggart is high-energy, whether he’s on the field or sitting at a table, surrounded by a horde of media members at Pac-12 Media Days.
“He brings a swagger and an energy that you have to match,” Oregon safety Troy Dye said.
