Former Arizona Wildcat and newly crowned Lakers head coach Luke Walton hired former Laker Brian Shaw as his assistant coach and recently added one more to his team, Toronto Raptors 605 Development League head coach Jesse Mermuys. Rumors quickly circulated that Walton was targeting Jesse Mermuys for an assistant position due to their long-time relationship.
Jesse was the Director of Basketball Operations for the Arizona Wildcats under Hall of Fame Coach Lute Olson from 2006-2008. The 35-year-old graduated from the University in December of 2004.
Before joining the Lakers, Jesse Mermuys was the Head Coach and Assistant General Manager of the Toronto Raptors Development League basketball team, the Raptors 905.
