LOOK: Arizona unveils Lute Olson statue

Thursday, the Arizona Wildcats unveiled a statue of legendary basketball coach Lute Olson outside the Hall of Champions (just north of McKale Center).

The statue depicts Olson cradling Arizona’s 1997 National Championship trophy in his left arm, while his right arm is waving to the crowd.

Take a look:

Before it was unveiled, Lute said “I just wonder if they got the hair right”. Do you think they did? He approved of it.

In 25 seasons at Arizona, Olson posted a 589-187 record, reached the NCAA Tournament 23 consecutive times, including four Finals Fours, and won 11 Pac-12 titles, 7 Pac-10 Coach of the Year awards, and of course one National Championship.
