Knicks exercise Allonzo Trier’s option for 2019-20 season

Sometimes it pays to go undrafted.

The New York Knicks opted to exercise Allonzo Trier’s team option for the 2019-20 season that will pay the former Arizona Wildcats standout roughly $3.5 million. That is about the same as the No. 12 overall pick from Trier’s draft class—Miles Bridges—will earn next season.

Trier averaged 10.8 points per game in his first season with the Knicks, eighth among all rookies. He was originally signed to a two-way contract that paid him league minimum, but he played so well the Knicks decided to up the ante.
