The Pan-Am Games kicked off yesterday, and two talented college players in Arizona big man Kaleb Tarczewski and Kentucky guard Jamal Murray put up great performances, as were reported by Rob Dauster of NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk.
Tarczewski, a seven-footer who will begin his senior season in the fall, had eight points and 13 rebounds in Team USA’s 85-62 victory over Venezuela. In three seasons with the Wildcats, he averaged 8.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the field.
Murray was even better in Team Canada’s 105-88 win over Puerto Rico, posting 12 points and two assists.
