JuJu Smith-Schuster has surgery, could still play this week

On Tuesday, USC Trojans wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his right hand.

Smith-Schuster had a plate and screw inserted into his surgically repaired hand, but there is still a chance that he will be able to suit up this weekend when the Trojans play host to the Arizona Wildcats at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

According to interim head coach Clay Helton, it will all come down to pain tolerance.

“It’s really a pain-tolerance thing,” Helton said. “You’re talking about one of the toughest kids in my 21 years of experience that I’ve ever been around.
