TUCSON - We're halfway through Pac-12 play, and the conference's official media poll isn’t looking so good.
Picked by media who cover the conference to finish 11th, Washington is a game out of first place, tied with three other teams, including the one that was picked to finish 10th (USC). Oregon, expected to finish fourth, is alone in first place with a favorable second-half schedule.
And while the media poll has correctly picked the winner in 14 of 23 tries, it chose Arizona this season … and the Wildcats are in sixth place.
Sixth place, as in not on pace to be one of the top four teams who get to skip an extra game in the Pac-12 Tournament.
