Former Arizona Wildcats defensive tackle PJ Johnson has been signed to the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Johnson was a seventh-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2019 NFL Draft, but was waived on Aug. 31, just a few days before the start of the regular season.
Johnson spent one season at Arizona after transferring in from City College of San Francisco. He was highly-productive. The 6-foot-4, 335-pound DT logged 31 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
