Former Arizona Wildcats defensive back Shaquille Richardson has inked a futures contract with the Oakland Raiders, the team announced Wednesday.
A futures contract is essentially an invite to the team’s offseason activities, which gives Richardson a chance to audition before the 2018 season.
Richardson played at Arizona from 2010 and 2013, becoming a leader on defense near the end of his college career. He finished his career with 186 tackles, 10 interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
Richardson was then taken in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he was a member of the practice squad for a year.
