The talented trio of Arizona's Deandre Ayton, Duke's Marvin Bagley III and Oklahoma's Trae Young made history Tuesday by being named to the AP All-America team, the first time three freshmen were named to the first team in its 70-year history.
In addition, Ayton became the Wildcats' first AP first-teamer in 19 years and the first consensus first-team all-American in 20 years.
Jason Terry was Arizona's last first-team AP player (1998-99) while Mike Bibby was the last consensus pick (1997-98).
The NCAA defines a consensus pick as one chosen by the AP, NABC (coaches), USBWA (writers) and Sporting News, and Ayton has now been named a first-team all-American by all four of those organizations.
