The Dallas Mavericks have waived Brandon Ashley, it was announced Thursday.
The ex-Arizona Wildcat played in five games (one start) for the Mavericks this preseason, averaging 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game.
Ashley signed a non-guaranteed multi-year deal with Dallas in August after a strong performance in Summer League, where he averaged 10.8 points and 4.1 rebounds on 47.4 percent shooting.
However, the Mavericks opted to make room for free agent forward Jameel Warney instead.
This was Ashley’s second stint with Dallas, as he was on the team’s preseason roster in 2016, too, after he chose to forgo his senior season with the Arizona Wildcats.
