Tom Sadler turned to his right and glanced down to the University of Phoenix Stadium field.
BYU was painted in white in one end zone. Arizona was painted in red in the other, its seven letters just barely obscuring the name Cardinals.
Sadler, the president and CEO of the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA), beamed like a proud new papa. The Cactus Kickoff Classic would begin in about 90 minutes, and Sadler was confident more than 50,000 UA and BYU fans would be on hand for the first regular-season college game at the Cardinals’ stadium.
And, hopefully, not the last.
