A dozen former Arizona Wildcats baseball players were invited to Major League Baseball’s “summer” spring training camps last month, yet two of the more notable guys on the list had been conspicuously absent from early workouts.
One has since made his camp debut, while the reason for the other’s absence has been confirmed.
Third baseman Bobby Dalbec has tested positive for the coronavirus, per manager Ron Roenicke. Roenicke told reporters that Dalbec, a fourth-round pick of the Boston Red Sox in the 2016 MLB Draft who is on Boston’s 60-man player pool for the 2020 season, is asymptomatic but must have a negative test before he can participate in workouts.
