Although this marks his first trip to Tucson as Arizona State’s basketball coach, Bobby Hurley is familiar with Arizona’s McKale Center.
In 1991, he faced the Wildcats as a sophomore point guard for Duke. In a battle of Top 10 teams, Hurley had 14 points and eight assists, but the Wildcats defeated the Blue Devils 103-96 in overtime. Hurley’s memories:
“A lot of fun," he said. “I remember coming out for the first time to Arizona and just saying, ‘Wow, this weather’s great. It’s not bad out here.’ Seeing that coming from the East Coast in the winter was nice.
