Arizona Wildcats gymnastics coach Tabitha Yim has been hired to be Stanford’s new head coach, it was announced Wednesday.
It’s a homecoming for Yim, who was a gymnast at Stanford from 2005-08 and an assistant coach there from 2010-15.
Yim is replacing long-time coach Kristen Smyth who retired on Aug. 11.
"I had an incredible scholar-athlete experience at Stanford shaped by the coaches, faculty, and staff who were committed to my development as a student, athlete and person,” Yim said in a statement. “I will forever remain thankful for the support of John Court, David McCreary and the Arizona staff, and I am grateful to Bernard and the Stanford family for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading this program towards continued success.
